Turn The Heat Up In The Kitchen

Valentine’s Day is around the corner. It’s a time for love, passion and excitement. It’s a time when you can openly show how you feel about someone without any regret or embarrassment by doing something romantic or what would be considered sweet. Of course you could always go the more traditional method and send a box of chocolates and a card or maybe some roses.

This year we at Classy Catering Creations wanted to give you some real power house information that will give you the ability to knock the socks off that special someone. If you are a couple or are married for any length of time you are probably wondering, “How can I do something different yet romantic and something that will really show how much I care?” We are here to help. In this issue you will see a full Valentine’s Day menu that is not only delicious and beautiful to look at but easy to make. Sure, you could make this menu on your own but the idea here is to give you and that special someone a way to not only show how much you care about each other but to help you put the heat back into the kitchen and your relationship together.

Good-For-You Foods for the New Year

January 2012 Eventful Magazine Cover photo

By Chef Richard Bishop
Owner, Classy Catering Creations

Many of us celebrated the holidays and rang in 2012 with a conglomerate of parties and elaborate dinners, which included an overabundance of great food. And now that we have concluded our celebrations, it’s time to get back to our everyday lives outside the holiday season, and, for many, that starts with the infamous New Year’s resolution to return to our pre-holiday weight.

According to Wikipedia, a New Year’s Resolution is “a commitment that an individual makes to one or more personal goals, projects, or the reforming of a habit.” While some of us want to exercise more or quit smoking, losing weight is the No. 1 resolution year after year. With that in mind, I want to focus on the overall topic of better health. The best way to achieve this goal is with healthy eating.

Chef’s Classes, Or an Event, Offer Warmth

Hello everyone. We wanted to share a recent article published about Chef Ricky and Classy Catering Creations that was only available in print. This article was written in a local monthly publication known as the “Brookfield Magazine” and made available in January.
We would also like to take a moment to thank the Brookfield Magazine, Jack Coraggio, and Laurie Gaboardi for writing such a great piece about us.

Even if the epicurean pursuit was a little bit belated, there’s nothing circuitous about Richard Bishop’s route to the catering field. Neither is there anything unfocused or undetermined about the trek.

It’s immediately evident that when the entrepreneurial chef and caterer zeroes in on something, he immerses himself in the project wholly. His drive is always at a roiling boil, just like the exquisite fare he is responsible for; nothing he touches comes out halfbaked.Photo of Chef Ricky

Examine first the suddenly direct path to his elegant, highly adaptable and highly palatable food service business, Classy Catering Creations. What started as a whim for a Renaissance man with a computer science background soon became a beloved career.

“The whole reason I started Classy Catering Creations was because I decided to reinvent myself,” said the proprietor of the Danbury-based company, as he explained the simmering impulse that in 2010 sent him to the Community Culinary School of Northwest Connecticut. “Within a week, two weeks, I knew I’d want to do it for the rest of my life.”

Gift From The Heart

By Chef Richard Bishop
With our Thanksgiving plans in order-menus done and travel arrangements made- we wait for the moment of turkey and stuffing. And most will end the day with decadent desserts, some will be anticipating the next big plan –shopping!

With the gift giving holidays only weeks away, “Black Friday”, marks the beginning of the shopping season for many people. And whether they are looking to add to their collection of electronic toys, upgrade the tools of their kitchen, or get their mom the new 6 qt. Kitchen stand mixer, Black Friday is the day many wait for.

Everybody wants to save money, especially in today’s economy, but sometimes, giving the best of the best, isn’t an option. Sometimes it doesn’t matter how big the sale is. Sometimes the gift really does need to come from the heart and not the wallet.

So, whether you begin your shopping on Friday or end it on that day doesn’t really matter.
Whether you like the crowds of Black Friday or avoid them doesn’t matter either. We have an affordable way to give a gift full or love and compassion without the high dollar price tag. It’s not a Cuisinart or a Flat screen TV but it will last forever and they will never return it.
